ABSTRACT

: Introduction 

 
Subarachnoid hemorrhage is the common condition after head trauma witch followed by intracrainal complicatins.We design this study to evaluate the efficacy of nimodipine ( a calcium chanel blocker ) in post traumatic subarachnoid hemorage

: Material and Methods

In a double blind study patients whith head trauma in Alzahra & Kashani hospital from my 2002 who that s CT have evidence of SAH selected and divided  in two groups in case group iv Nimadipin prescribed and from the second days it changed to oral

duration of treatment in all patients was 10 days.control CT was take in 10 th , 90 th and 180 th days after discharge and patients were followed for 6 month 

: Result 
 
in this study 76 patients as cases and 76 patients as controls

 % prevalence of mortality in case and control group was 4.75 %  and  7.18 

The maximum effect of drug was in social activities of patients whith moderate head trauma.The mean of GCS at the fine of discharge in control and case group was 12.46+1.5 and 11.8+1.2 . Mean of social level activities at the end of 6 th month in control and case group was 6.7+1.6  and 8.6+2.3 average time of hospitalization for controls and cases was 16.6   2.4 and 12.1+1.7 

   : Discussion
    
This study shows Nimodipin in traumatic SAH ( mild to moderate trauma) in patients whit then 50 percent blood occupation of subarachnoid spacelead to decrease mortality duration of hospitalization , focal neurological signs and improving their social activities
